SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE
Comment from Ai Yoshida

The corner lot faces the bright and open atrium of Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens. We thought about inserting "shadow" to quietly adjust the center of gravity of the space in this environment.

Taking inspiration from traditional Japanese elements found in traditional coffee shops and inns, the wooden space is constructed with brown planks that evoke the aroma of roasted coffee, creating a "good sense of incongruity" that reverses the negative and positive aspects of the surrounding bright white space, creating a place that brings about a sense of calm, like being in the shade of a tree.

This inversion creates a sense of stillness and presence that is different from the surroundings, as well as depth for a rich time savoring coffee.
