OUR COMMENT TO COFFEE

About Sarutahiko Coffee

Coffee bean connoisseurship

We carefully consider the flavor we are aiming for, and instead of being swayed by previous reviews, we focus on the appeal of the coffee beans in front of us and the passion of the producers.
This is also true at the international coffee bean competition "Cup of Excellence" (COE)※1.
Among the farms that won awards that year, we seek out producers with great potential and do business with them.
*1 The world's most prestigious international specialty coffee competition, an award given to the highest quality coffee harvested that year.

Fair trade by dealing directly with producers

Sarutahiko Coffee communicates with producers and purchases from them through a method called "direct trade."
Both parties will share a medium- to long-term plan for "delicious coffee" without being significantly affected by market prices*1.
I believe we can grow together.
And after we purchased from them, the producers have won the Cup of Excellence (COE) for four consecutive years, contributing to their growth.
*1 Most coffee is traded at the US coffee futures exchange price, which means it is greatly affected by price fluctuations. By trading directly, we are not greatly affected by market prices and can conduct medium- to long-term transactions at prices that lead to growth for both parties.

Roasting techniques to bring out the best flavor

The coffee that arrives from the producing country is called "raw beans" and is light green in appearance and smells like green grass and dry soil.
You can't drink it like this.
Sarutahiko Coffee's proud roasting team applies heat to these raw beans to create aroma and bring out the best in the coffee.
Our roasters work with coffee every day, interpreting the changes in temperature, humidity, and air pressure that come with the changing seasons, and paying close attention to the changes in aroma.
The cooking temperature is expertly adjusted to suit each occasion.

Brand power

Sarutahiko Coffee stores are places that express the brand's world view, and they serve "the most delicious coffee" with "the best hospitality."
We believe that it is important to have this in mind.
We believe that by focusing on the store's unique worldview and putting the following three points into practice on a daily basis, we can strengthen our brand.
To that end, we aim to share our plans with the many producers who produce delicious coffee and grow together.

The challenge of creating the best possible cup of coffee

To "allow our customers to enjoy more delicious coffee",
Sarutahiko Coffee also participates in international competitions where baristas' extraction techniques, presentations, and customer service are judged, in order to hone their overall barista skills.
The competition is a place where teamwork is put to the test, along with the skills and quality honed through daily efforts. Sarutahiko Coffee has won the Japan Latte Art Championship four times in a row, and won the Japan Barista Championship for the first time in 2024, as well as coming in second.
Utilizing technical skills and teamwork, the flavors extracted by our baristas can be enjoyed outside the store
We are developing drip bags and chilled coffee products for your enjoyment.

Collaboration Cases

Taking advantage of our technical capabilities and knowledge, we also collaborate with major manufacturers and retailers.
Through our business partnership with Coca-Cola Japan and collaborative products with Lawson and other companies, Sarutahiko Coffee products have become available nationwide.
In addition, we are aware of the issue of waste, which has been drawing attention as a social problem, and are creating products using coffee beans (※1) that cannot be used in stores.
In July 2, we began selling these products and donating a portion of the proceeds to the Kaze ni Tatsuta Lion Fund (※2019).
