- About the Moonlight Series

The Moonlight series was designed in 1965 by the ceramicist and designer Tatsumi Kato.
The design is based on the motif of moonlight and combines Nordic and Japanese tastes.
It's hard to believe it was designed in the 1960s, but its timeless form is what makes it so appealing.
It features an exquisite glaze color with a faint hint of gray-green called hiwa-iro, and lines on the rims of the plates and edges of the cups.

-About collaboration products

■Ceramic Japan

Ceramic Japan was founded in 1973 with the establishment of a company that aims to realize superior designs using Seto techniques.
Since its establishment, the company has collaborated with designers in planning and development, and has had designers active in a wide range of fields visit the company to create products that perfectly combine design and technology.
Since its establishment, Ceramic Japan has had a strong commitment to design, and has used its technical capabilities to give shape to the ideas of its designers. This approach has earned the company high praise, including the Good Design Award, participation in the International Ceramics Exhibition, and selection for the permanent collection at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York). Even today, Ceramic Japan continues to proactively propose products to the world that combine practicality and artistry, something that only Ceramic Japan can achieve.

■Tatsumi Kato

He graduated from the Ministry of Education's Crafts Technical Training School in 1941, and from 1956 he studied at the Danish National Academy of Fine Arts as a member of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
After graduating, he worked at Arabia Porcelain Factory in Finland, where Kaj Franck was chief director, until 1958.
After returning to Japan, he served as a professor at Musashino Art University and participated in the establishment of the Craft Center Japan. Many of his works have influenced many areas, both as a designer and a ceramic artist.
